Wedding Tasting

This is a very special day, and with all the planning it can also be stressful. The one wedding task that is ALWAYS fun is the cake tasting! What's not to love? Sampling yummy cake, fillings, icings, and combining them for the perfect combination to treat your family and friends. The Gourmet Whisk prides herself on making each wedding cake as individual as you are so you will not be limited to choose from a "wedding flavor menu" or select from a book of preset designs.

A wedding tasting is not required, but it is a good way for us to meet face-to-face and discuss the vision you have for the reception desserts. You may also want a rehearsal dessert, edible treats for the wedding party, or a honeymoon snack pack! You can expect the average tasting consult to last around 45-60 minutes and is traditionally attended by the bride and fiancé, but the Mother of the Bride/Maid of Honor are also welcome. If there are going to be more than three persons attending, please let me know at there is an upcharge for extra taste settings. If it become too difficult to get everyone together for a tasting, let's not stress over that as there will be plenty to take home with you to share.

Groom not a cake fan?

For The Gourmet Whisk, this is not a problem, in fact "no cake" options are becoming quite popular and favored. Cupcakes, cheesecakes, mini-pies, tarts, themed cookie platters, cobblers, or build your own brownie sundae bar. We can step outside the "traditional" box to create something fun and unique for you and your guests.

What to expect

A standard tasting consists of:

  • 5 cake flavors, 3 fillings, and 5 icing options.

[2 full cake samples settings/1 filling-icing setting]

$35

If you want more, I can accomodate that with a small upcharge

  • $15 for 3 additional samples

  • $20 for an additional guest cake taste setting

If there are food allergy concerns, i.e., peanut or other food allergies, please communicate this to me prior to our visit.

What to bring to your tasting

Items of inspiration are always helpful in the design process!

Please feel free to bring photos of various cakes that have elements that detail specifics you want for your cake. Other items you are welcome to bring include:

  • Photos/swatches of the brides dress

  • Wedding color pallet

  • List of flower selections

  • Save the date announcement or a draft of the wedding invitation

  • Photos of the venue (or web address if they have a web page)

  • Name & contact information for your wedding coordinator

It is important that you have a very clear idea of your overall wedding budget, and your cake budget in particular, so I can design what will fit your budget.

The photographs you provide are for inspiration only; I make no claims for exact duplication of the work done by other cake decorators.
